Executive MBA (EMBA)

Executive MBA (EMBA)

Value Added: The Lerner Executive MBA

Executive: a word with roots in the Latin for "carry out," a word that signifies you have the ability to carry out - to execute - ideas, plans, and actions that move your organization into the future. You already have significant business experience, but taking your career to the next level means increasing your value to your company. It means enhancing your ability to discern trends, think critically, make decisions, and lead others.

The Executive MBA (EMBA) at the Lerner College of Business and Economics could be your ticket to a position of greater responsibility and leadership in your organization. Our 19-month program is internationally accredited, taught by distinguished faculty, and attended by top business minds. Our real-world curriculum offers skills and knowledge that you can apply to your career from day one, while the convenient Wilmington location and weekend schedule fits your busy life.

Key Features:

  • Earn a University of Delaware MBA in 45 weekends spread over 19 months – with the summer off
  • Classes are conveniently organized to meet the needs of experienced, working professionals:
    • Five nine-week semesters, each using the unique student-oriented 3 + 1 format of 3 weekends of class followed by 1 weekend off
    • Classes meet on Fridays from 4 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
    • All classes are held at our suburban Wilmington campus
  • The program begins with a five day residency in Lewes, DE, which includes a three-credit course, Strategic Thinking for the Executive Leader
  • The final semester includes a 10-day international residency

To qualify for admission to the EMBA program, you should have at least five years of business experience (the average for students in our program is 12 years). The GMAT exam is optional for EMBA applicants due to the extensive experience required. All other requirements for admission are the same as for our standard MBA program. To apply, go to the UD Office of Graduate Studies online application form, and select the Executive MBA Program when you are asked to choose a major.
